IronMemo — Meeting Recorder · Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 8, 2026

Applies to: IronMemo — Meeting Recorder browser extension (the “Extension”).

This Privacy Policy describes how the IronMemo — Meeting Recorder browser extension handles your data. It covers only the Extension. The IronMemo web service at app.ironmemo.com is governed by its own separate privacy policy.

In short: The Extension records audio locally on your device and saves it to your Downloads folder. It does not transmit your recordings, your microphone audio, or any personal data to us or to any third party. Everything stays on your computer.

1. What the Extension does

The Extension lets you record the audio of a browser-based call or meeting. To do this it captures:

  • Audio from a screen, window, or browser tab that you explicitly select through your browser’s standard sharing dialog (this may include the voices of other participants in your call).
  • Your microphone audio, if you grant microphone access.

These sources are mixed into a single audio file (WebM/Opus format) directly in your browser.

2. What data is collected and where it goes

DataHow it is handled
Recorded audio (screen/tab + microphone)Created in your browser and saved as a file to your local Downloads folder, in a subfolder named “IronMemo Records”. Never uploaded by the Extension.
Recording metadata (file path, timestamp, recording state)Stored locally in your browser’s extension storage so the Extension can show your last recording and resume its interface. Never leaves your device.
Microphone permissionManaged by your browser. The Extension only reads whether access is granted; it does not store microphone data outside the recording described above.

The Extension has no servers of its own and makes no network requests to send your data anywhere. Your recordings are yours and remain under your control in your Downloads folder.

3. Link to the IronMemo web service

For convenience, the Extension can open the IronMemo upload page (https://app.ironmemo.com/app/meetings/upload) in a new tab so you can choose to upload a recording for transcription or summarization. This is a simple navigation to a web page — the Extension does not attach your files, audio, or any personal data to this action.

If you decide to upload a file on that page, that upload and any subsequent processing are handled by the IronMemo web service and covered by its own privacy policy, not by this document.

4. Permissions and why they are used

PermissionPurpose

5. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, or share your data. Because the Extension does not transmit data, there is no data for us to share.

6. Data retention and deletion

Recordings are stored only as files in your Downloads folder and are entirely under your control. Delete a recording by deleting the file. Locally stored metadata is removed when you clear the Extension’s data or uninstall the Extension.

7. Recording others

You are responsible for complying with applicable laws when recording calls or meetings, including obtaining the consent of other participants where required by your jurisdiction.

8. Children

The Extension is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
